Andy Matuschak has written about [a taxonomy of note types](https://notes.andymatuschak.org/Taxonomy_of_note_types ), and I want to try the same. What would my own working taxonomy of notes?
Much of the taxonomy below is generated by Matuschak:
* Evergreen notes
* Stubs, principally defined through backlinks
* Bridge notes
* Notes abstracting across many different notes
* Outline notes
In terms of how a note is *named*, I find it useful to distinguish these by grammar. I typically have nouns, noun phrases, and statements.
* Nouns (concept handles, proper nouns)
* Noun phrases
* Statements (declarative, imperative, interrogative)
(It's funny—there's a part of me that hates the idea of writing a note with an *imperative* as the title, i.e. "Do this," "Never try this," etc. But I remember—I am writing principally for myself. I can boss myself around a little!)
